Air BrakeSystems and Caliper Repair Kits in Truck, Trailers and Buses
Modern commercial vehicles are equippedwith air brake systems. The principleof operation of air systems is basedon the use of compressed air energy. Using air as a working gas is a kind oftechnical solution. This is the main feature of this type of air brake systems and the maindifference from others seen in practice. Airbrake systems are equipped with many controls and designs. Air brake systems use a generaloperating principle.
STRUCTUREAND PARTS OF AIR BRAKE SYSTEM
Compressed air in the air braking system isproduced by a compressor, driven bythe engine. Reciprocating type compressors are generally used in vehicles withair braking system.
Compressed air is transmitted to the brakewheel mechanisms by various auxiliary elements. Braking is achieved bytransferring the pressure force to the pads.Air brake system consists of compressor, pressure regulator, brake pedal valve, brake bellows, airrelief valves, hand brake valves, water relief valves, air tanks and safety valves.
GENERALPRINCIPLE OF ACTION OF AIR BRAKE AIR SYSTEM
Simplified principle of action can be describedas follows: Air pump - a compressor that is driven by an engine pumps air fromthe atmosphere into the system. Thanks to the pressure regulator, the airpressure provided by the characteristics is created and maintained in thesystem. The stock of air compressed by the compressor is accumulated in specialcylinders - receivers attached to the vehicle frame. When the driver pressesthe brake pedal, air from the receivers through the tubes and hoses fills thebrake chambers. With their rods, the chambers act as brake pad mechanisms. The brakepads transmit compressed air energy to the brake drums (discs) of the wheels. When the driver releases the brake pedal, the air from the brake chambers returns to the atmosphere. The mechanical partsof the system with the help of built-in springs take their initial position. The truck picks up speed again.

OPERATIONOF THE BRAKE AIR SYSTEM.
When the engine starts, the compressor issimultaneously turned on. It takes in atmospheric air and feeds it into thesystem until the operating pressure is reached. The pressure in the systemdetermines and limits the pressure regulator. Excess air is directed throughthe exhaust valve back into the atmosphere. After the pressure regulator, airis driven through a dehumidifier. This device is necessary for filteringvarious impurities and retaining atmospheric moisture vapor. Dry air ensurestrouble-free operation of the system, especially in frosty times. In mostsystems, the pressure regulator and dehumidifier are combined into a singleunit, equipped with a small separate receiver. The receiver helps thedehumidifier to perform a regeneration function. After the dryer, air isdistributed by a four-circuit safety valve
In addition to air flow separation, thevalve provides: sequential filling of circuits with compressed air.
The driver controls the main brake valve through the brake pedal.Through the cavity of the brake valve, air under pressure is pumped into the brake chambers of the front wheels, andthrough the control elements, the brake chambers of the rear wheels. Chambersby rods act on the mechanisms of breeding (compression) of brake pads. The truck is braking.
In the circuit of the parking and emergencybrake systems, air from the receiver is fed to a manual brake valve, which controls the air supply to the energyaccumulators, which are usually installed on the rear wheels. A manual brakevalve relieves pressure from such an accumulator. As a result, the spring actson the actuating mechanisms. It forces pressure on the brake chamber rod, ensuring the safe parking of the truck. Power accumulators help to avoid anaccident while driving. When the pressure of the system drops belowpermissible, they brake the machine.
From the receiver of the circuit of theparking and emergency brake systems, power is supplied to the trailer brakecontrol valve. The air systemsof the vehicle and the trailer are connected by means of supply connectingheads. The control signals to the trailer braking system are simultaneouslyreceived from the brake systems ofthe vehicle: working, parking, and emergency.
The airbrake system of a truck is a technically complex mechanism. A heavydimensional machine must behave reliably and predictably on any road. Knowledgeof the device, the principle of action of the caliper repair kits of the brakesystem such as caliper adjustingmechanism set, caliper boot pinrepair kits, caliper boot set willhelp in the proper care of it. In gratitude, the brakes will not fail thedriver in an emergency.
